“Christians of Rome represented a new and radical religion that taught that there was only one God (LORD). They preached a religion of forgiveness, salvation, piety, deliverance, integrity, and love of God. But it was likely that they had little understanding of Jesus the son of God, the Holy Spirit, and the unmerited love of God the Father. Paul also struggled with “who would rescue him from this body that is subject to death?” And his reply is found in Romans 7:24-25 with these words,” Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” These 2 verses form the introduction to Romans 8.”
