The Garden of Eden

by Tony Kupkinski

Abba Father, Holy God,

You are our faithful guide and companion.

You have taken sorrow  and confusion

And transformed them into spouts of hope.

You allowed your blanket of everlasting love

to shroud our lives and bolster our lack of faith.

When we are faltering.

You have guided our feet so they land in spacious places.

You have pointed us in the direction we are to go.

Your footprints and shadow assure us as we step into the unknown.

The fragrance of your presence lifts our spirits.

But Lord, when will you return and take us home?

When will you tire of the lack of integrity in our world….

When as a people will our materialism and lack of faith stop.

When will you tire of our wars and distrust of peoples with different beliefs and appearance.  When will we stop abusing your creation, and destroying the beauty of your earth.

Oh Lord, do not give up on your people.

We hunger to bathe in the beauty of your presence.

We long to revel in the grandeur of your Eden.

We long to roam across the hillsides that are mantled with your grain.

We long to feel no pain  or sorrow and to bask in your love.

Come Lord Jesus and pour out righteousness and love upon us.

Reclaim your creation and transform it into your Kingdom!

Help us prepare for that glorious day by waiting patiently and hopefully.

Help us immerse our prayers in thanksgiving and praise.

Help our lives to reflect your glory and and your honor.

Help us to be “melodies of joy” that give others hope.

Help us abandon our old ways and open our eyes to your holy spirit.

Give us Lord, a small measure of your everlasting love.

Wrap us in the blanket of your mercy and forgiveness.

Hear my prayer Oh Lord and be close.
