Title: A New Thing: The Presbyterian Women Thank Offering

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” —Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)

Inspired by God’s promise to create new possibilities, we invite you to participate in the annual Thank Offering of Presbyterian Women.

When we faithfully and joyfully give to the Thank Offering, we participate in a program with roots that go back to 1888. It was in Springfield, OH, where a woman named Eliza Clokey called upon others to give a “thank offering to her Lord” by offering one dollar in addition to their usual contribution to mission.

From that simple act of gratitude, a powerful tradition was born. Today, the Thank Offering provides grants of up to $50,000 to worthwhile programs each year. The recipients are always a mix of domestic and international projects, but all meet crucial needs. Your contribution has a focused and profound impact:

  • At least 40 percent of this offering funds health ministries, often helping the most marginalized members of God’s community.
  • The remaining percentage supports new or expanded projects and small capital improvement projects, allowing ministries to grow and thrive.

Your contribution helps make a way in the wilderness for these vital programs that might otherwise go unfunded.

How to Give:

You can participate by simply dropping a gift in the offering plate during worship. Please look for the designated Thank Offering envelopes in the pews to ensure your contribution is directed to this special appeal.

Thank you for joining this legacy of gratitude and helping to bring rivers of hope to those in need.
