We live in an affluent county. However, our neighbors are hurting. They’re wondering how they’ll put food on the table tonight. They’re wondering how they’ll have clothes for their children. Together with our ministry partners Orchard Park faithfully provides to those in need. We provide for families in ways that the government cannot. While children can receive free and reduced cost lunches at school, little can be done to ensure a meal at home. In countless ways we support those in our community who are struggling. This is the heart of Matthew 25:40 (NIV) “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
Many of the ways that we collectively serve our community – our neighbors – is hidden. You may have heard about the eggs that we buy for the food pantry so families in need can put breakfast with protein on the table to make it easier for their children to learn at school. We provide a place for alcoholics anonymous to meet so those whose burden is a propensity towards alcohol abuse can fellowship and learn from others. In these and in literally dozens of other ways we’re being a light to the world – we’re bringing Christs’ light to the world still.
