2019 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

ALL GOOD GIFTS ... COME FROM GOD

Once a year we come together to reflect on the many blessings God has showered upon us, and on God's call to us individually and as a community of Christ. We choose our response to His bountiful grace and pledge to one another our commitment to the life of the church in the coming year. Now is the season. In his first letter to the Corinthians Paul tells us to, “Strive for the greater gifts and I will show you a still more excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:31

There is so much good going on at Orchard Park. Our building is receiving the refresh it needs after 60 years of use: our attic has been insulated; new windows have been installed on some exterior walls, our pollinator garden is in process, and the biggest project of all, a new HVAC system is being installed. We have also invested in our staff by adding a full time business administrator. We welcomed Mary Leffler to our staff this past spring. We continue to be blessed with meaningful worship, outstanding music ministry and thought-provoking preaching.

As a congregation, mission continues to be our highest calling. We have supported many causes around the world and in our neighborhood. So far this year we have: put together 25 supply buckets for the hurricane relief efforts with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance; sorted and packaged thousands of shoes for Fountains of Hope to provide to those in need; bundled hundreds of birthing kits to support births in Haiti; provided gifts and hygiene supplies to children at the Tijuana Christian Orphanage; provided clothing to almost 100 children at Orchard Park Elementary through our Clothesline program; and provided enough food to feed 145 children over spring break and 4,580 meals to keep kids fed during summer vacation. This summer OPPC put on a Vacation Bible School in June for almost 150 children and we had the largest numbers of youth participating in Camp Friendly and the youth Caravan mission trip to Michigan in a decade! And that doesn’t even cover it all! All one has to do is look at the weekly calendar on the church website to see the hundreds of good things going on in our building daily.

We cannot begin to count the numerous meals we have shared together and provided to others in our neighborhood and city. We rejoice in the power of the Spirit working through the ministries, missions and fellowship of this church. God is good and we have seen his love in every generation here at OPPC.

But there is so much more God is calling us to do. We are chipping away at our strategic plan, and as we do so, new visions are rising. We must continue to address the needs of our building and staff. We must continue to be attentive to Christian hospitality, discipleship, and the spiritual nurture of adults, youth and children.

All of this requires financial resources. Just beyond where our current budget takes us, there lie these and other important needs and wonderful opportunities. Each one of us makes a difference!

If you have already pledged, we are thankful for you and your strong and faithful support to Orchard Park. You are stewards who have helped this congregation make a real difference in the lives of the people that OPPC serves in Jesus' name. We believe, with the apostle Paul, that there is a power at work within us, as God's people, to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine. We take God at God's word and we give thanks for you.

If you have given a gift, we are thankful for you. We are grateful for what you have already provided to Orchard Park. You are stewards who have helped this congregation make a real difference in the lives of the people that OPPC serves in Jesus’ name. We are inviting you to consider an increase of your financial commitment to OPPC’s mission and ministry for the coming year by prayerfully making a commitment, and pledging to financially support the ministries of Orchard Park by completing a commitment card. This helps Session plan our ministry and programming for the upcoming year.

If you have not been able to give, we are thankful for you. We encourage you to be a regular financial contributor to Orchard Park and its ministries either by gift or pledge. Financial contributions typically fund the general operating budget and are a major aspect of OPPC’s financial sustainability. As you decide the level of your support for Orchard Park, we ask that you thoughtfully and prayerfully consider what God has done for us and what OPPC means in your life and the life of others. Prayerfully consider making a commitment to financially support the ministries of Orchard Park by completing a commitment card. This helps Session plan our ministry and programming for the upcoming year.

Session has asked for a 5.7% increase in our operating budget at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Please plan to attend the financial landscape informational meeting on October 29 at 10:00 a.m. to learn about the recommendations for 2018 or talk with a member of Session.

Why pledge?

We cannot begin to count the numerous meals we have shared together and provided to others in our neighborhood and city. We rejoice in the power of the Spirit working through the ministries, missions and fellowship of this church. God is good and we have seen his love in every generation here at OPPC.

But there is so much more God is calling us to do. We can do better at what we are already doing - strengthening our current ministries to meet the increased needs of these difficult times; refreshing our physical space and our worship to shine even more brightly as a beacon of hospitality to the stranger, aid to the needy, hope to those in despair, and to those simply in need of Jesus. We are being called to pursue important new directions, too – acting on our Strategic Plan to further develop our local ministry and outreach and discovering & sharing our Spiritual Gifts.

All of this requires financial resources. Just beyond where our current budget takes us, there lie these and other important needs and wonderful opportunities. Each one of us makes a difference!

Our 2018 Stewardship Goals

Please return the commitment card at worship on Sunday, November 12. Between now and November 12, please pray for God's work within the Orchard Park faith community and within your lives as you discern the role you will play in support of this ministry. We would be delighted to discuss these matters with you or answer any questions you may have.

  • Our member participation goal is 100%! We hope every member will pledge.
  • No pledge is too small or too large if it reflects your gratitude to God. The very act of pledging serves to demonstrate shared gratitude and commitment to spreading the good news of God’s grace. Every pledge matters!
  • For those who pledged in 2017, please consider an increase of at least 10%.
  • For those new to pledging, please consider making this the year you begin to practice this act of discipleship through giving, no matter the amount.

Eighty-three percent of our total income is derived from pledges. We need your support.

Why are we increasing our budget?

For the first time in three years we are increasing our budget. The increase is needed to sustain building needs and additional staff.

Hang tight while we prepare your form...
